Shrawan Nakshatra: Rudraksha, Astrology, Significance and More

What is Shrawan Naksahtra?

In the previous blogs, we have read a lot about the previous twenty-two Nakshatras, what they mean, what they are, and how it is made. These nakshatras are the ones that affect the lives of the people and how there are consequences and a lot more other things like lucky numbers, letters, and color have been discussed.

All these blogs have talked about different Nakshatras namely Ashwini, Bharani, Krittika, Rohini, Mrigshira, Ardra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Ashlesha, Magha, Purva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, Mula, Purva Ashadha, Uttara Ashadha and Abhijit Nakshatra.

In this blog, we will be talking about the twenty-third Nakshatra, Shrawan Nakshatra.

About Shrawan Nakshatra

Being the twenty-third Nakshatra, the Shrawan Nakshatra falls right after the Ashadha Nakshatra exactly like the Shrawan month as per Hindu calendar falls right after the Ashadha month as per the Hindu calendar. It is the Shrawan Nakshatra that makes a person highly religious and spiritual. So if on a day of a month, you feel highly inclined to spirituality, blame the same upon the possibility of Shrawan Nakshatra. This is if you are not at all religious and you feel a pang of religious hit-and-go in an instant.

The word Shrawan in Sanskrit means to listen. To hear. Also known as Thiruvonam in Tamil and Malayalam, Shrawan Nakshatra empowers the constellation Makar or Capricorn due to its shape looking like one giant sea animal with the name Capricorn.

The name Shrawan is kept so based upon the name of a boy Shravan, who wanted to take care of his blind parents and take them on a journey to their religious destinations but unfortunately, he succumbed to a devastating fate, and soon after his parents too suffered a brutal death in his memory. Since this is a very giving Nakshatra, thus in the memory of the boy wonder, this Nakshatra is referred to as Shravan Nakshatra.
