Hindi Translation

Hey Bharat! Sabhi Praani janmse pehle aprakat the or marne ke baad aprakat ho jayenge, kewal beechme hi prakat deekhte hain. Atah isme shok karne ki baat hi kya hai?

English Translation

Beings are unmanifest in their origin, manifest in their midmost state, O Bharata, unmanifest likewise are they in dissolution. What room then for lamentation?

Meaning

In the previous Shlok, we saw how Shri Krishna was teaching about birth and death and how this was also covered in the Ramayana. In this Shlok, we will see how no one understands the basic life and death scenes and they cry over something that is not even needed.

Every person who can see, listen, and understand will be exactly what the body is like before birth, invisible because non-existent in the body form.

All these people will also be invisible and unseen and will not be seen after death. Thus, every one of these people is visible after birth, when they get a life and before death when they have a life. There is no in-between and when the soul is occupied by a body, it will be seen, when it is not, it will not be seen.

This is like a dream. There when you are asleep after being awake and not there after you are awake and before you have slept. But for the living person who can see, hear, and understand, this is something they do not follow and they fail to understand even after a lot of logic inflows.

There is a philosophy. What does not happen in the beginning and in the end does not happen in the middle also. So following this, it is also safe to say that the body wasn’t there before birth and will not be there after the birth, so it technically is not there between birth and death too. But in reality, the body was not there earlier and will not be there later and yet it is there in between, in the present, so then some things remain in the middle even if they weren’t earlier.

Conclusion

This might sound a little confusing but the body was not there earlier. The body is not there later. The body is there in between and also not there in between. There are two logics and with both the logics, only one logic comes out. If something is not there, it does not need any grieving because it gave all it could when it was there so now, it should not be grieved about when it is not there. When something is there, there is no use in grieving about it or the fact that it will not be there after some time because if that is the case then you will not be able to enjoy the quality time with it while it is there. Maybe, this might sound a little confusing as mentioned earlier, but it is also very interesting.

That’s all for Shlok-28, chapter 2 of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. We’ll be back with Shlok-29, Chapter 2 tomorrow and till then keep reading and keep learning.
