English Translation
O Janardan, we have heard since childhood, that if there are people who keep their family laws and legacies aside and treat it for a toss, there is a specific place reserved in hell for them.
Meaning
In the previous Shloka, we saw how Arjun described that anyone who does anything wrong and triggers an unstoppable chain reaction leading to only bad and poor outcomes becomes the culprit of not just one crime but every crime committed on the way to making everything their fault, definitely goes to hell for being as insensitive and as cruel to spoil the lives of many alongside themselves.
Alongside this, Arjun also commented upon how he was not at all interested in killing everyone and landing up in hell while rotting up there with the curses of the people who were killed because the Pandavas and the Kauravas could not manage a fight within themselves. Arjun preferred to die alone and be criticized for being a coward than fight like brave but be abused and cursed after death by those who lose their people and are alive to see how the entire scenario changes from happy to sad.
Arjun stated that he knew that people are unethical and there is nothing that stops them from being this insensitive and unethical, that day is not far when not just the living but the demised should also be told to find their own way to live and reside while the newborns will continue to destroy everything on Earth to bring an end to this world after they have materialized every single part of the same.
Arjun thus states in this Shloka that he is done with the stories of people who do good to get good and then the ones who do bad to get bad and then the people who do good to get bad or who do bad and yet they get good treatment. Arjun just wanted to stay in peace and die in comfort, ignoring the fact that his desire was impossible at that very moment because he was the one leader everyone was looking at and even if anyone did not understand what he meant and what he wanted to say, they loved him and followed him blindly because they trusted him and thus, for Arjun to just stay at one place and not take any action was impossible because the army will listen to him only.
Basically, Arjun was not getting the courage to fight the war because he knew that the end would be devastating. He was also getting the courage to call off the war because he was not in the perfect position to do so when everyone else was pumped up and very excited for the war to happen. There were times when Arjun had decided to take a decision previously also but he had to go with the majority sentiment and now also he knew that it will be difficult both ways also because Arjun was a battlefield leader, but he was not the only strategist in the army and everyone had the opinion that the war was needed to settle a lot of scores, left otherwise.
Conclusion
Arjun knew that the trouble was standing at his feet and anytime now it will punch him if he did not wish to have the same upon his. This is when you learn how to keep your intuitions in check and manage your tasks taking full command of the same. Arjun knew whatever he did will go in vain to stop the war but he did not leave positivity and he went on finding tricks to save the destruction from happening. We should also learn to keep our cool during anything unfavorable we come accordingly and adjust as well.
