Hindi Translation
Hey Arjun, is napunsakta ko mat praapt ho kyunki tumhare liye yeh uchit nahin hai. Paramtap karne wale Arjun, tum hriday ki is durbalta ka tyaag kar ke yudh ke liye khade ho jao.
English Translation
Arjun, you are the son of Pritha (a brave warrior mother), and you cannot succumb to this cowardice as it is unworthy of you. Shake off this petty faintness of heart. Stand up, scorcher of Enemies…!!
Meaning
In the previous Shlok, we saw how Shri Krishna had started telling Arjun how he was wrongly thinking and how his vision was single-tracked because he saw the agony he will be giving his brothers and how it will be bad for them but he did not see that how they gave even more agonies to everyone and there was nothing that this situation demanded other than a war to settle multiple scores together and also to follow the order of the universe.
This Shlok also tells what more Shri Krishna said to add to this and made attempts to tell Arjun how wrong he was there on the battlefield and what was the correct way to move ahead.
Shri Krishna told Arjun that he was supposed to fulfill the promise he made to his mother and the command she gave him to avenge every wrong action that was taken against the Pandavas. If now, Arjun moves back, he will be defying a direct command and that is the biggest sin to deny the wish and command of elders, specifically mother. So if he was worried about killing his elders who have wronged, a bigger sin will be to leave the elders' commands unfollowed who have not sinned and who were wronged.
Shri Krishna even said that a person is called a warrior not by caste or gender but by actions and if Arjun did not fight and showed his behavior of being scared and intimidated by the thought of the onset of a difficult situation, then he is not fit to be called a warrior. He is even not fit to be called a coward because he is scared of something he was ready to fight in the first place. He was also no more fit to be called a fighter because the basic need is to fight and he was not fulfilling that.
Therefore, Arjun was more like a Napunsak, a gender-undefined person who wasn’t sure what they wanted so he was trying to make from the situation and he wasn’t ready to make the most of the opportunity at his disposal. Thus Arjun was not a warrior, not a fighter, and not a person deserving of any kind of appreciation from anyone because he refused to fulfill his duties.
Shri Krishna was telling Arjun that he did not deserve to be the son of such a brave lady who made sure that all her sons were given the best of everything so that they can stand up against the bad if it was happening to them and also if it was happening with anyone else. A mother who can bet all her sons to justice was brave and a son who cannot respect this is the biggest loser of all times.
Shri Krishna further said that if Arjun wanted to win like this, probably his entire education was false, and then, his teacher, Guru Dron, was not a competent one at his work because if the student fails to understand that the need of the hour is to fulfill duties offered, then there is nothing this person will even do right.
So, if Arjun behaves like this, he will become the worst person to have ever lived and if he becomes the worst person to ever live, then his people connected to him will also become the worst ones to ever be living.
Basically, in these two lines Shri Krishna had specified that if there was anyone who deserved to change, it was not the Kauravas because at least they were true to their wrong side, but Arjun was the one who wanted to prove a right by being wrong and thus, he did not deserve to be in the position he was. This was because only after this was Arjun to believe that he was being illogical and stubborn and that he needs to take immediate action before it was too late already.
Conclusion
When there is a task to be done, there is at least one reason to do it even if there are a thousand reasons to not do it. It depends upon the willpower of the person if they really wish to make the full utilization of the opportunity in front of them or just wish to anyhow dispose of it off to the fear of unknowns and unexplored. Shri Krishna was not ready to let Arjun leave before he knew what was wrong he will be doing and he did not want to let Arjun quit. He was the willpower of Arjun and thus, he was not giving up in the toughest of situations to avoid facing the defeat that follows the cowardice.
