Meaning
In the previous Shlok, we saw that Arjun was not keen on taking his revenge anymore because he saw his own people standing excited to fight him and his own people. Basically, we all know by now that the battle of Mahabharata was to happen between two sets of brothers, the Pandavas and the Kauravas.
The Kauravas were the evil arty who made sure to make the life of the Pandavas hell and they tried everything in their might to make the Pandavas live really frustrated lives. Some Kauravas even tried to physically assault Pandavas so that they do not live any further and their kingdom of Hastinapur is also taken away from them and divided amongst the Kauravas only.
For this, they had set a plan of a friendly dinner and pst which we had already discussed how Shakuni, the brother of the mother of the Kauravas was trying to cheat in the game of Chausar and made sure that the Pandavas lost everything they had including their palace and their entire kingdom and everything they owned.
Then, Shakuni made sure that the Pandavas still are made guilt-laden and then given a chance to redeem everything if they win the last bet. Since the Pandavas were also not in their proper senses and they were also greedy to get everything they had lost, they bet their wife Draupadi in the game knowing well that if things went downhill, it would be a sight no one would ever want to watch. Even after this the Kauravas also knew that Shakuni will make the Pandavas lose and it will be a bad name for them too to bet women in the game as they cannot play with anyone’s honor, more so of someone who is not even actively involved the process.
Yet, Draupadi was lost to the Kauravas and the Kaurava brother Dushashan tried to physically molest Draupadi, the Pandava wife in front of everyone it was then that Shri Krishna had to finally interfere and make things stop then and there.
After this, it was decided that since the Pandavas had lost everything, they did not have the right to stay in the kingdom unless they put something at stake as valuable enough as they wanted to win back and if they cannot do that, they have to leave the kingdom for 14 years and live life like a commoner in the woods without anyone knowing who they are and what they want.
The Pandavas knew that they had gotten this upon themselves right when they had agreed to the game of Chausar and also when they understood that something was fishy and yet they kept playing in greed.
The Kauravas still did not stop and they tried to kill the Pandavas inside the woods multiple times, one time building a false yet very good-looking palace for the Pandavas made of Lac, an inflammable substance and trying to lure the extremely tired Pandavas into it so that they could be killed overnight.
Kauravas tried everything and the Pandavas were lured in also but at the right time, they got a whiff of the fact that it was a trap, and although there was no escape route, Bhim, Arjun and Yudhishthir cracked the exit route and they all escaped properly without getting caught or hurt.
The Pandavas wanted to know who did this to them and why as they were sure that they were living like commoners in the woods and no one knew about them so how did anyone get a hold of them and was so close to killing them? They were surprised to see the court men of the Kauravas who had been on the fire site to make sure that the Pandavas were dead.
Before leaving, Yudhishthir and Arjun had made arrangements to show that they were dead, they knew that the Kauravas would not come after them again but these things will not stop and will keep going on the moment the truth is out, which will soon enough.
Having had so much injustice against them as well, Arjun was ready to forgive the Kauravas and get everything back to normal as he could see that a lot of his own people were supporting the Kauravas and they were eager to finish everything and take their individual revenge also from the Pandavas. Some were supporting the Kauravas because they had a score to settle with the Pandavas and the others because they had an obligation to fulfill towards the Kauravas and they had to pledge their alliance to the evil-minded Duryodhan’s army because they were held at the point of their promise to help in future. They owned something to Kauravas and they had to pay the price for the same.
Still, Arjun saw that all these people who were against him were his own people only and whatever happens, he was not keen on making anything more devastating than it already was and he was keen on leaving all this war and trying something else, which would be a little more liberating.
This was why he wasn’t feeling well, his temperature was rising, his hands were shaking, his bow and arrow were falling, he wasn’t able to stand straight, his legs were shaking, he wasn’t able to see straight, think straight, and talk straight.
Arjun was requesting Shri Krishna because he was in such a vulnerable cognition after realizing that he was not just fighting the bad, he was also fighting his own people and was really about to lose his people in the same fight, he just wanted everything to stop and take a mature turn.
Little did he know that war was the most mature option then and he just wanted an escape from everything without wanting to face it straight.
Conclusion
Arjun wanted to make things easy for himself and he was a little stubborn and a little selfish because he was forgetting the fact that he was a victim of the Kauravas' bad behavior but he was not alone and there were a lot of people who also had to face a lot of Kaurava evil-minded behavior. Arjun and the army were capable enough of taking their revenge and establishing the fact that how to live was important to know, so they had the chance to fight not just for themselves but also for those who had no guts or power or position or authority to stand against the bad and evil and face it o teach it a lesson. Thus the battle of Mahabharata was important to show that even if the wrong person is your own, you have to take the stand for the right and tell everyone what happens if you choose the wrong side.
